AFTER-CARE

I have been following two different methods that are both proven to work and heal your tattoo properly.

UNWRAPPED METHOD (3x3x3 METHOD):

When the tattoo is finished I'll wrap your tattoo in plastic wrap. Please leave it on for 1-2 hours max. Take it off after this time period. For the following 3 days after you get tattooed, wash the tattoo with warm water and an unscented anti-bacterial soap. Let it air dry for 10-15 minutes then apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor. You will do this 3 times a day (once when you wake up, middle of the day, & before bed.) If you're going to the gym or playing a sport, clean it afterwards. After the third day you will switch from Aquaphor to an unscented lotion (Eucerin, Lubriderm, etc) You will apply that 3 times a day depending on how dry your skin gets. Continue this for 3 weeks. All tattoos can be kept looking their best with continuous use of lotion after the healing phase is done.

SANIDERM METHOD:

You will have to provide your own Saniderm. It can be ordered on Amazon or on their website. This is a better method for people that are more active or if you have a job that will put you in contact with dirt/dust or anything that you don't want getting onto a new tattoo. It also works well for tattoos done in spots that are moving a lot like the elbow or ditch of the arm. Overall it's a good method for any tattoo, it's a quicker healing time as it's covered for 3-4 days and you don't have to worry about keeping it clean or applying ointment. There are a few people that can have an allergic reaction to the adhesive and or latex in the product, so if you haven't used it before cut a small piece and apply it to your skin to see if you have a reaction.

HOW TO USE:

I'll wrap your tattoo in plastic wrap after we are done and you'll clean it after 2 hours. Let it air dry for 10-15 minutes then rewrap it without ointment. Every 4 hours repeat that until bed. When you wakeup unwrap it, clean it, & let it dry for up to 15 minutes. Wash your hands before you start and then you can apply the Saniderm to the skin. (I have found that cutting the Saniderm into smaller patches makes it easier to apply) then overlap those patches until you've covered the entire tattoo. Make sure you take the paper side off first (that will expose the sticky side) apply that to the skin, then peel off the plastic side before you add the next patch. Make sure that it's secure. You'll leave it on for up to 4 days. On the 5th day, in the shower slowly peel the Saniderm off in hot water. Go slow and let the water loosen the adhesive. Don't rip it off because it will cause irritation to the skin. Clean it and let it air dry and for the next three weeks use lotion to keep it moisturized.
